FCT Police Command arrests 348 Criminals
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended 348 suspected criminals during coordinated raids across 17 identified black spots in Abuja.
Out of the total arrests, 320 suspects have already been prosecuted and charged to court, the command said.
The black spots targeted in the raids include Apo-Dutse Panteka, Diplomatic Zone, Kabusa Panteka, Abuja-Kaduna Road, Jabi Panteka, Area 1 (Monkey Village), Gwarimpa, Mpape, Durumi III, Mabushi, Kubwa, and Maitama under the Transcorp Bridge, among others. These operations aimed to curb criminal activities and protect public and private infrastructure.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the raids were part of the command’s proactive efforts to maintain law and order.
She highlighted the objectives of the operations: preventing crimes by disrupting criminal activities, protecting public infrastructure from theft and vandalism, curbing drug abuse, and enforcing the law.
The raids yielded significant results, including the recovery of 11 firearms, 26 stolen manhole covers, 20 streetlight poles, large quantities of AEDC armored cables, and trucks loaded with vandalized metals. Additionally, the police confiscated large amounts of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs, helping to reduce drug-related crimes in the capital.
