Ekiti to establish financial crimes commission
The Ekiti state government is making plans for the establishment of the state economic and financial crimes commission.
With the new development, the state government has been advised to critically consider the issues of jurisdiction in its efforts to set up the economic and financial crimes commission in the state.
This forms parts of contributions of stakeholders at the public hearing on the establishment of Ekiti state economic and financial crimes commission.
Speaking at the public hearing, the chairman of the house committee on public finance, Fajemilehin Ayodele said the bill emanated from the curiosity of members of the house to enhance public probity.
Others at the public hearing urged the house to look into certain provisions of the proposed law to avoid going against the provisions of the 1999 constitution.
Meanwhile, the move to set up the commission was part of the efforts to strengthen the administration of criminal justice in the country.
