Some members of the National Working Committee of the People's Democratic Party have thrown their weight behind the governor of Rivers state Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of the party in the state.

The NWC members made their position known during a visit to the governor at the government house in Port Harcourt where they held a closed door meeting with the governor.

Speaking to newsmen after the closed door meeting, the National treasurer of the party Ahmed Mohammed said the visit is to assure Nigerians that the party is one, with the governor as the leader in Rivers state.
